Environmental Illness

I am taking a Behavior Management this summer. I am learning why people do what they do. When individuals do anything, we have six conceptual models to use which will give us some guidance as to how the person is operating. Those six models are pyschodynamic, biochemical, biological, sociological/ecological, behavioral, and social learning. From a psychodynamic model, and individual has an id (drive system) which are innate but also has an ego and superego (conscious system) which are learned. From a biochemical model, an individual reacts negatively to the chemistry makeup of his/her environment, and he/she does not have control over his/her reactions. From a biological model, an individual has brain damage or similar problems which he does not have control over. From a sociological/ecological model, an individual learns from his environment, so behavior is learned. From a behavioral model, and individual learns behavior from free sources: home, school, and community. From a social learning model, and individual learns from appropriate role models, so behavior is learned. Of the six conceptual models, only tow are out of the control of the individual. The remaining four show us that behavior is learned.

This video clip illustrates how allergic reactions affect behavior. This is alarming. We are treating people for behavior problems when there is an ennvironmental stimulus triggering the problem.
