Full-Time Mommy Starting Today!

I am very happy to announce that my school year is over and I am officially a full-time mommy! We had so much fun today! We went on three long walks and enjoyed the beautiful weather!

Although I don't have to attend school everyday, I will be taking two graduate courses online. I started one of my classes today and I find the content fascinating! I hope my daughter will love learning as much as I do!

Growing Up

Today Kaylynn enjoyed a tasty bowl of spaghetti (all minced up for her enjoyment), and some delicious baby yogurt. If you would have asked me seven months ago about letting my baby eat food, I would have horrifically denounce any such act. I was going to exclusively breastfeed since its the most nutritious for the baby. However, I am taking a much more relaxed approach with Kaylynn's diet. She enjoys food way to much, and she prefers her sippy cup over her bottle.

My Baby's Eyes Are Sensitive Light

My daughter has an extreme sensitivity to light. This concerns me a great deal. It is difficult for her to be outside and enjoy the nice weather because the sunshine hurts her eyes. I bought her some pretty snazzy sunglasses which she hates to wear, but I make her wear them anyway. The sunglasses don't always offer the perfect protection because the light still bothers her even with her sunglasses. Kaylynn has been to the eye doctor two times. Although her eye doctor shows sincere concern for her situation, he can't give me a clear diagnosis of her problem. It is very difficult to take pictures because bright flashes hurt her eyes. I am wandering if other mothers are experiencing this problem with their babies, and googling to find answers. So if you found this blog by googling "My baby's eyes are sensitive to light.", please feel free to leave a comment.

Happy Seven Months!

Happy Seven Months Baby Girl! Mama can't believe you are cutting your first tooth! You are growing up way too fast! Your mama is thankful that today was a cloudy day so she could snap a picture of you without using the flash. You seem to survive the photo shoot!

Tuesday Toot

It's Tuesday again! Time for mamas around the Blogamama Community to toot their own horn about accomplishments they made this past week. My accomplishments are not monumental by any means, but I did get several small (yet extremely) important tasks accomplished this week. First I paid for my online courses and bought books. Second, I picked up my daughter's birth certificate from the courthouse. Lastly (and most importantly), I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned! Yep, these are my little trival yet important tasks that I completed this past week! It sure feels good to cross off those tasks from my to-do list!

Kaylynn Can Sit Up!

Last night (around 11pm) Kaylynn sat up for the very first time by herself! The little stinker was not tired so we lounged in bed together. We had so much fun playing in bed! Since she has been feeling better she is back to "I don't need no sleep." routine. I am so glad to have my happy baby back!

Cool Baby

Photobucket
You won't be seeing many pictures of my precious girl without her sunglasses (unless the eye doctor tells me otherwise). Kaylynn is just soooooo sensitive to light! It was a rather cloudy day in Sweet Home, Indiana and Kaylynn's grandpa took her outside for a few minutes. It was long enough to make her eyes watery and red. I guess this girl has very sensitive eyes, so she will be sporting these glasses every time we walk outdoors. So, what do ya think? Cute, I know!

You are probably wandering why I purchased blue sunglasses instead of pink...well Toys R'us only had blue and green......so I choose blue!

Update On Kaylynn

I am happy to announce that the eye drops are working! Kaylynn is feeling much better! The light still bothers her, but she is getting her personality back! Although the doctor did not give me a diagnosis on Kaylynn, I believe she has some form of iritis, an inflamed iris. He prescribed steroid eye drops which is a treatment for this condition. At this point in time we don't know what caused her condition. She could be genetically predisposed to iritis or perhaps it is an allergic reaction. I am just relieved to see that she is getting better. Nothing breaks my heart more than to see my little darling in pain. Kaylynn has another eye appointment on Monday.

Doctor's Appointment Update

Today was a rough day for Kaylynn. She spent three long hours waiting in the eye doctor's office. The doctor was extremely busy, and Kaylynn needed several rounds of eye drops before he could get a real good look into her eyes. Fortunately, he couldn't find anything wrong with her eyes, but he did notice her extreme sensitivity to light. He is very concerned about her behavior towards light, but he couldn't pinpoint the cause. He thinks Kaylynn could have a real bad case of allergies, and so he prescribed some steroid eye drops. My mother and I have some concerns about putting steroids into a little baby's eyes. I am not sure what we are going to do at this point. I am just relieved that Kaylynn doesn't has some rare eye disorder. Shortly after we arrived home, Kaylynn came back to life, but poor Grandma was knocked out for the evening. I think the trip to the doctor's office bothered grandma more than it did the little baby.

Spring Time

I absolutely love spring time! I love the weather, and people seem to be a bit more cheerful! I enjoy long walks, and watching the chirping birds and lively squirrels scurrying about in the park. Unfortunately, my daughter and I have not been able to take advantage of the nice spring weather because her eyes have been bothering her. She is extremely sensitive to the sunlight and/or allergic to pollen in the air. Her face begins to blotch and her eyes begin to water as soon as we walk outside. I took Kaylynn to the doctor today, and the doctor gave Kaylynn some eye drops. She said if Kaylynn's eyes aren't better by tomorrow that she will recommend an eye specialist. I am sad to report that the eye drops aren't working. Kaylynn can't seem to keep her eyes open. She is constantly squinting (even when she is indoors with dim light). Kaylynn has trouble looking up when she is laying down. When I put Kaylynn on her back, she will turn her head sideways and close her eyes. Something is bothering her, and I don't know what. I hate to see my baby girl so uncomfortable. Until Kaylynn feels better, I cannot post any new pictures. The light from the camera is to unbearable for her eyes. I will keep you updated on what the doctors say...in the meantime...I appreciate your prayers. -Sabrina

Kaylynn's First Boyfriend :)

Lincoln and Kaylynn were born weeks apart....and will hopefully be good friends someday!
